Today is tuesday...
Had my first test of the new semester
Environmental Science and Engineering test
50 objective question, finish it in around 15-20 minutes...
haha... not because I am smart, is because I used whole monday and today 4 hour breaks to study...
Maybe can get high marks....

Civil Construction Material Assignment

Busy with my Civil Construction Material Assignment for the past 3 day...
In our assignment, we need to cast lightweight concrete and assist our senior/supervisor in doing their Final Year Project...

Supposingly yesterday we can finish cast 51 lightweight concrete: 18 cube, 18 prism and 15 cylinder..
But the first batch of 34 concrete we cast on first day was failure as the density is higher than the required...
Why this thing will happened?
Obviously not because of our mistake, is UTAR mistake as they provide 'scientific' apparatus for us...
So, we need to throw away all the concrete we done on first day..
sigh... hard work just gone like that...

Yesterday was a great day
we cast our concrete much more faster because we gained experience from first day..
We knew what to do and how to do...
So, we finish it in within 3 hours like that..
And today we de-mould the concrete and test whether the density correct or not
Yeah... 13xx kg/m^3 ... Success!!

Today we cast our last batch of concrete...
Hopefully 2molo after we de-mould and weight the concrete, the weight is 1.3xx...
Then our group will become the first to finish casting the concrete for assignment...^.^

Here are some of the picture we took:

Garrett and Kethes take turn sieve the sand....

From left: Lim Chee Yong, my supervisor/senior, SuSu and Tat Ming....

Cube shape mould....

Cylinder shape mould....

Applying oil to the inner surface of mould...

I mixing the slag and cement....

This is foam generator...very nice to play 1....

Foam is coming out....

Weighing the required amount of foam. The foam is use to adjust the desired density of the concrete, for our assignment, is about 1300 kg/m^3...

Pouring the foam into the stirrer

Final product.. can start our concrete casting process...

Kethes taking out the cement from the stirrer...

All the group members are casting the concrete.....

This is our final product for 0.5 and 0.55 water lightweight concrete. need to soak in water for 7 days before we can proceed to further first test and 28 days for second test...

3rd Feb 2010

Today is Thursday
Week 3 of my year 2 semester 2
Although this week is just 3rd week
But the work need to do just too much and still non-stop increasing

Next week got Environmental Science And Engineering test
Need to go lab to cast concrete for Civil Construction Material assignment
Need to do Moral assignment
Need to do Stuctural Analysis 2 assignment
Need to attend 2 more lab
Need to self study as all my lecturers are "awesome" and "excellent"
And more to come as the time goes on ......

Stress? No.
Pressure? Yes. Got little bit as I need to compete with the time.
