Sport: UEFA Cup holder Zenit knocked out by Udinese

Last year UEFA CUp holder Zenit St. Peterburg were knocked out of the competition at the last-16 stage by Udinese. Zenit is 2-0 down from first leg in Italy and manage to win the return match 1-0 at their home and kncoked out on 2-1 aggregate. Zenit captain, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk open the score by headed in Victor Fayzulin's corner. Despite enjoyed the majority of possession, Zenit failed to extend any score and knocked out by Udinese.

Former winners CSKA Moscow were also eliminated by Shakhtar Donetsk after the Ukraine side won 2-0 at home to overturn a 1-0 defeat in the Russian capital. Two brazilian fired Shakhtar into the last eight at the expense of 2005 winners CSKA.
Attacking midfielder Fernandinho thumped in a 54th-minute penalty after being fouled by Pavel Mamaev and then Luiz Adriano turned the tie in Shakhtar's favour with a near-post finish with 20 minutes remaining.

Shay Given saved two penalties as Manchester City snatched a place in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals despite a dramatic late collapse in Aalborg. Aalborg BK staged late fightback with two gols from Luton Shelton and Michael Jakobsen penalty to bring the tie level at 2-2 on aggregate. The match went to penalty shootout after both team couldn't found net in extra time. It was Shay Given who saves two penalty and push Manchester City into last 8.
